Give them a treat that they will love...Cuties California Mandarins Review and Giveaway!

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

As a mother... I am always on the look-out for healthy snack choices for my children. Fruit is always a popular choice not just amongst the kids but by us adults as well. I was really excited to be given the opportunity to review Cuties, not only are they the perfect snack size they are absolutely delicious. I must warn you though... when they say that they won't last long they are not over exaggerating, we had a 3 lb bag gone in one night. I actually shouldn't say we it was more like they, because I only managed to snag one. (I swear my husband probably consumed over half the bag himself.)

California Cuties are two varieties of mandarins: Clementine mandarins and Murcott mandarins. You can purchase Cuties in a 3-lb bag or a 5-lb box. Although they are a tasty citrus fruit, Cuties are not "little oranges" contrary to popular belief.

Cuties have several distinct characteristics. This makes them the perfect anytime, anywhere snack. Unlike other mandarins or oranges they are:

Super Sweet
Before a mandarin can earn the Cuties label, it must meet rigorous standards for sweetness, peelability and absence of seeds. For sweetness, Cuties must contain a minimum sweetness level. Unlike some imported fruits, Cuties super sweet taste is always 100% natural

Easy to Peel
Kids love Cuties because their naturally loose skin makes them a cinch to peel. Which means they don’t have to ask Mom or Dad to help them - they can do it all by themselves. And the peel comes off cleanly, so there's no pulpy or juicy mess.

Seedless
One more reason parents and kids love Cuties: no seeds to spit out (or clean up). And to keep them seed-free, Cuties are protected from cross-pollination and tested at harvest. Of course, the occasional seed may slip by. But hey, nobody’s perfect.

And of course...
Kid Friendly
Good things come in small packages. Unlike their bigger cousins, Cuties are the perfect size for kids’ hands. And because they’re so small, all that juicy sweetness and healthy nutrition is concentrated into a few tasty bites. So toss a few into their lunch packs. They won’t last long!

Since Cuties are sweet and not bitter, they are great to eat by themselves and I imagine that they would taste great in a fruit salad or as a salad topper as well. Cuties are only available at select retailers, I found them at Wal-Mart, Target and have seen them at Meijer as well.
