Chocolate Milk Yum! Horizon Organic lowfat Chocolate Milk with DHA Omega-3 Giveaway

Sunday, February 28, 2010 131
One of my favorite drinks as a child was milk but not just any milk... chocolate milk. It's creamy chocolately goodness was always a treat no matter the time of day.

Mmm chocolate milk!

"Horizon Organic lowfat Chocolate Milk with DHA Omega-3 provides a great tasting and easy way to add calcium and DHA to your family’s diet. DHA Omega-3 is an important nutrient that helps support heart, brain and eye health, and it’s available in lowfat half gallons."

Even though chocolate milk is delicious, I have always thought it to be less nutritish than White milk and have limited the amount my children consume.  However,  flavored milk provides the same nine essential nutrients as unflavored milk (calcium, potassium, phosphorous, protein, vitamins A, D, B12, Riboflavin and niacin), and can help kids meet their calcium requirements.

According to 2005 USDA data, 66% of the milk chosen by children in schools is flavored.  Which glaringly shows that a majority of kids Love the Taste of Flavored Milk.

My kids really like the taste of this milk and say it taste just like they drink in school. Horizon Organic lowfat Chocolate Milk with DHA Omega-3 is a great way to give my children what they want while giving them the nutrients they need and I will continue to purchase it for them as long as they will drink it.

What is DHA?

DHA belongs to a category of healthy fatty acids known as Omega-3's. Found in high concentrations in the tissues of the brain and eye, DHA Omega-3 is thought to help support healthy function in these areas. DHA has also been shown to help support heart health.

DHA provides a nutritional boost for children's growing minds and bodies. Children's brains grow incredibly fast. In fact, the brain nearly quadruples in the first five years of life.

DHA is a key structural component of the brain, yet many young children don't get their recommended daily amount of DHA as it is found in a limited number of food sources.

Horizon Organic Milk Plus DHA Omega-3 is fortified with a natural, 100 percent vegetarian and sustainable source of DHA - a safe, wholesome, delicious way to bring more of this important nutrient into your family's diet.

Keeping nice and toasty with Golden Moon Tea- Kashmiri Chai Tea Review.

Wednesday, February 24, 2010 0

Over the the last few months, I have had the great opportunity to review several Golden Moon Tea products. Each Tea I have received has been of the highest quality and the flavor combination extraordinary. The latest tea I had the pleasure of sampling was Kashmiri Chai and I have to say it is one of the best tasting teas that has ever graced my palette. It ranks very high on my list of favorites right up there with Coconut Pouchong.

"Kashmiri Chai is an exotic, spiced loose leaf tea from the Himalayas of Northern India. Aromatic and warming, natives of India often comment that the authentic and delicious recipe reminds them of home. Serve with cream and honey for a rich treat."

Golden Moon Tea's  Kashmiri Chai tea blend is very well balanced;  All of the flavors come through without completely overpowering the black and green tea base. This unique tea base has a smooth, rich flavor; when paired with the whole cardamom seeds, cloves, spice oil and cinnamon the end product is ideal for a pleasurable and unique tasting experience.

Whether you plan to drink it warm or cold, with or without milk the mixture of flavors gives you a nice warm cozy feeling. Which is great especially in these cold winter months.

Golden Moon Tea- Kashmiri Chai is available in the  following sizes....
Sample $0.99, 4.0oz Tin $13.99, 1/2 lb Bulk Bag $17.59 and in 1 lb Bulk for $31.99 and can be purchased at goldenmoontea.com.

Golden Moon Tea -Coconut Pouchong- Review

Wednesday, January 13, 2010 2
Coconut Pouchong
Awarded Best Tea at the 2007 World Tea Expo

I recently had the opportunity to try Coconut Pouchong by Golden Moon Tea. I wasn't quite sure what Pouchong even was before trying this tea. Honestly, I had to google it to find out. What I found is that it is a very lightly oxidized tea somewhere between green tea and what is usually considered oolong tea. I must tell you that it is Really Really good!

As I was opening the tin of Coconut Pouchong, I was immediately enveloped in the rich sweet smell of coconut. The large, fresh, green leaves were in perfect condition no broken leaves or tips at all. The aroma while brewing was even more amazing, but nothing compared to the taste of the tea itself.

Golden Moon Tea managed to find the perfect balance between the tea and coconut. The green tea in this blend was very mellow yet.. not overshadowed by the sweet taste of coconut. The natural coconut flavor of coconut milk gives it an elegant, sweet, decadent punch of flavor.

Product description from Golden Moon Tea

There's mystery to the art of finding and freeing the floral aroma and rich flavor of a pouchong tea. But the reasons Golden Moon's Coconut Pouchong is noticeably better than others are pretty simple. For one, we use the highest grade teas for the base for this flavored blend – large, deep green loose leaves – where normally leaves of such quality wouldn't used. This makes a difference. And we derive our deep, natural coconut flavor from real coconut milk, instead of the artificial flavoring employed by most other blends. The difference is real, present and unmistakable, and its why our Coconut Pouchong won "Best Tea" at the 2007 World Tea Expo.

WAT-AAH Challenge

Monday, December 7, 2009 61

WAT-AAH, is a premium water that contains no sugar and is made specifically for kids. It’s available in four unflavored varieties -brain, body, energy, and bones.

My oldest son loves water where my youngest will only drink it when he has no other choice. So, I thought it would be fun to take the WAT-AAH Challenge. In the WAT-AAH Challenge you place bottles of WAT-AAH alongside soda or other sugary drinks. and see which drink your child chooses.

The box of water was sitting on our front porch when the kids got home from school, I was not able to put them in the fridge. Both of the kids were very excited by the cool bottles and immediately begin arguing over the colors. The kids couldn't wait to try them two bottles never even made it into the fridge at all.

The following day they had walking club after school, they brought the two remaining bottles with them. I tried getting a picture of there natural reactions but as soon as my little camera hog seen the camera come out he stopped to pose.

When asked if they prefer WAT-AAH  over juice or soda, they both chose WAT-AAH.

Enter to win a WAT-AAH! Backpack filled w/ fun back-to-school goodies (pencils, erasers, stickers etc...) Along w/ WAT-AAH! samples as well! This giveaway is open to U.S residents only. Ends 12/16/09

      4. Earl Grey – This full-bodied Ceylon tea features just a slight earthy character, beautifully balanced by the sweet floral bergamot flavor with just a hint of citrus.

Watte Single Estate Tea. Fortune Magazine observes that “Dilmah is taking a leaf from the wine industry” by producing tea from estates at a various elevations, resulting in “high-end and chic,” nuanced and quintessentially authentic flavors. From the dark, chocolately and robust Nilagama Estate tea grown at 800 feet, to the straw pale, exquisitely delicate tea from Lover’s Leap Estate at nearly 6,000 feet, each of the Single Estate varieties deliver a unique gourmet experience.

      1. Nilagama Estate – Low grown - 800 feet above sea level. Dark brown, almost chocolatey, ripe tasting tea. Round tannins, full bodied, with a big structure and fleshy. Like cabernet sauvignon, this tea is grown on flat lands and lower altitudes with lots of sun. An authentic, suave and stately tea.

      2. Doombagastalawa Estate – Mid grown - 3,300 feet above sea level. Dark golden brown with a biscuity taste. Medium bodied, deliciously dry and generous. Analogous to a syrah grown in warm but not hot climate areas, on steeper slopes facing the sun. A handsome and impeccable tea.

      3. Somerset Estate - High grown – 4,600 feet above sea level. Medium brown with tints of orange. An almost savory taste. Fruity, exotic perfume with a 'balance' in taste from the ample tannins, strong but not brooding.† Comparable to a Pinot Noir wine made from grapes grown in cool climates. A tea that is delicate, radiant and elegant.

      4. Lovers Leap Estate - High grown – 5,700 feet above sea level. Light brown-yellow with green nuances. Bright, breezy, effortlessly light and snappy yet with tannins of fortitude. Long lasting in aftertaste. Like Champagne made from cool climate grapes picked just before they get too ripe. An exquisite and alluring tea. (Lover’s Leap Estate)

Golden Moon Tea *Review and Giveaway*

      Monday, November 30, 2009

I absolutely love a nice warm cup of tea in the afternoon, especially after a nice warm relaxing bubble bath. It is my special treat to myself, and helps me unwind after a long day.

I love many different kinds of tea, but have never been a fan of Earl Grey, I had always found it a little too bitter for my liking. Until recently, when I was given the opportunity to try Tippy Earl Grey from Golden Moon Tea. Unlike, Earl Grey tea that I have tried , it had a smooth, rich flavor that did not overpower my senses.

Golden Moon Tea has found the perfect balance of flavors; They start by using a high quality Black Tea base, made from the finest leafs that include extra tips. They add in the perfect amount of bergamot and just a touch of lavender, which makes the flavor of Tippy Earl Grey, smooth warm and inviting.

Tippy Earl Grey Description from Golden Moon Tea

"Tippy Earl Grey is Better Early Grey"

"It's difficult to improve upon a tea so revered as Earl Grey. But we believe we've done so, in creating a Tippy Early Grey that takes the traditional and adds layers.

start, the base of our Early Grey contains substantially more tips than others. This requires meticulous plucking, and lends a unending complexity to your cup.

Then, we add not just the traditional oil of bergamot, but fresh, fresh lavander that blends sublimely with the citrus of the former.

All real reasons many open-minded connoisseurs of Early Grey claim that Golden Moon's Tippy is the best Earl Grey they've ever sipped."

You can Purchase Tippy Earl Grey Tea as well as many other varieties online at Goldenmoontea.com

      Village Tea Company *Giveaway*

Over the last few years tea has grown in popularity and we have seen a dramatic increase in varieties and brands. It is so overwhelmingly so, that it is now hard to find a tea that you can  fall in love with.

I recently had the opportunity to try two great teas from Village Tea Company, Cherry Me Bloom Rooibos and Acai and Sweet Grace Vanilla Rooibos. Each of these teas were beautifully blended and not overpowering at all.

Cherry Me Bloom rooibos with acai

"Ingredients: South African Rooibos, sour cherry, lemon grass, flavor, acai, sunflower petals"
"Health Benefits: antioxidant rich, caffeine free, weight management support, natural energy."

"Wonderfully sweet Rooibos, sour cherry, lemon grass, acai, and sunflower petals grow together in our Cherry Me Bloom Rooibos with Acai Tea.This flavorful Rooibos gives your day a fresh start. Combined with  acai, this tea gives you a bright boost of natural energy and anti-oxidants that can keep you on your feet or just as easily whisk you away into your favorite book.  Expect to be pleasantly surprised with full taste experience. "

I really like that it has a little sweetness to it, but it is not overly sweet in any way . The fabulous smell  of  this tea makes brewing a pot  feel like a nice relaxing aromatherapy treatment.

                  Sweet Grace Vanilla rooibos.

             "Ingredients: South African rooibos, flavor"
"Health Benefits: antioxidant rich, caffeine free"

"There’s an incredible simplicity in our Sweet Grace Vanilla Rooibos Tea. The soothing flavor of vanilla and the naturally sweet and mildly nutty palate of rooibos tea come together in a soothing mellow flavor. As the fragrant end to a wonderful meal, or a sweet and delicate treat, our Sweet Grace Vanilla Rooibos Tea is a graceful escape from your everyday."

The taste is delicate, with a nice warm vanilla flavor, really calming after a hard day.

Village Tea company has many unique varieties  to choose from, with each containing their own healthy properties. Not only is Village Tea good for you, it is also good for the environment with each tea  packed in 100 % recycled and recyclable packaging that includes 3 cotton muslin bags for brewing.
