About Cow Girl Chocolates

Head Cowgirl Marilyn Lyonsyr founded Cowgirl Chocolates in 1997. Her two favorite things in the world are art (she has a notable career as a ceramic sculptor) and chocolate. In fact her first job was working in a chocolate factory in Pennsylvania. Marilyn mingled some favorite memories with some new ideas to create an American original,Cowgirl Chocolates.


Cowgirl Chocolates has won a total of 16 product awards and 2 packaging awards and is located in Moscow, Idaho USA.  It has also been featured on the Food Network  on “Unwrapped” and “Extreme Cuisine” and in the New York Times and Toronto Star among others.

Cowgirl Chocolates makes spicy truffles and mild-mannered truffle flavors. The spicy truffles has hot peppers added to them and come in a variety of flavors such as Spicy Double Dark, Spicy Hazelnut milk chocolate, Spicy Raspberry Dark, and Spicy Cappuccino. If spicy isn't your thing they also carry Mild Double Dark, Mild Milk chocolate, Mild Raspberry lemonade Dark chocolate, and Mild Ivory orange milk chocolate. The mild still contain a small amount of spice that just compliments the chocolate.

I received a beautifully wrapped package of Spicy and Mild assorted truffles from Cow Girl chocolates to review.  Honestly I did not know what to expect. I love spicy foods but I did not know how chocolate and spice would work together.  The creaminess, and sweet taste of the chocolate actually worked well with the spice, each playing its own significant role yet working together in perfect harmony. My favorites were the Spicy Raspberry Dark and the Mild Ivory Orange milk chocolate, the combination of the fruit flavor, chocolate and spices were amazing!
