Friday, March 6, 2009 0
"Just because the economy has taken a dump, it doesn't mean you have to look like you crawled outta one."

I have been really stressed lately and in desperate need of a trip to the spa. With the way things are going financially that will not be happening anytime soon though. So I have been looking for ways to turn my home into my very own spa. After a lot of searching I ran into a site called Spa Index they have a large selection of spa treatments that you can do at home.

So,If you need a spa break but don't want to break the bank to get it, read on. Because, Below I'm going to list 3 treatments that you can do yourself in the comfort of your own home.

1. Dry skin facial mask

Ingredients needed: 2 teaspoons oats, 2 tablespoons dry powder milk, olive oil
(For oily skin substitute Honey for the olive oil)

Directions
a) In a bowl crush the oats and mix in the powdered milk
b) Slowly mix in olive oil until it forms a paste
c) Apply to face and neck and leave on for about 20 minutes
d) Before rinsing gently massage the mixture into you skin(This will exfoliate your skin)then rinse with warm water.

2. Relaxing chocolate bath

Ingredients needed: 2 cups powdered milk, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons cinnamon.

Directions
a) Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl
b) Run hot bath mixture and pour ingredients into tub
c)Use your hands to stir the water to help dissolve
d) turn off all the lights and light some candles(optional) Slip into your nice warm bath and enjoy:)

3. Cucumber eye treatments To reduce fine lines and leave your eyes feeling refreshed.

Ingredients needed: 2 thin slices of cucumber and a warm damp washcloth

This is just a sampling of what I found on Spa Index. They have such a large array of treatments that I can not list them all here.

3 Make at home hair care products.

Monday, March 2, 2009 0
Sorry for running a little late on last weeks installment of Frugal Friday. I had a really bad Friday my car died :( and I didn't get much time to really post. I guess it's better late than never.

1. Leave In Spray Conditioner and Detangler
....What you'll need....
....A spray Bottle
....your favorite conditioner
....water

First put a quarter size squirt of conditioner in the bottom of the spray bottle. Fill the bottle with water and shake. It is as simple as that. You can adjust the amount of conditioner to find out what works best for you!

2.Hair freshener
....What you'll need...
....A spray bottle with a fine misting nozzle
....Your favorite perfume, essential oil or a couple cinnamon sticks
....water

Fill the spray bottle with water and add a few drops of your chosen fragrance.
I have read that you can also use Febreeze or linen spray. If you choose to use a alternative make sure you read the ingredients and test on your wrist before use to check for any kind of skin reaction.

3.Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment
....What you'll need....
....1/2 cup mayo
....1/4 cup olive oil
....1 egg yolk
....warm towel(you can warm by putting in dryer until ready to use)
....Plastic shower cap or saran wrap

First blend all ingredients together in a bowl
Then apply mixture from root to ends.Paying close attention to your ends. Since this is usually the area that need it the most.
Pile hair on top of your head and cover with shower head or plastic wrap. Then wrap your head with the warm towel.
Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly with cold water to lock in moisture. Wait at least 8 hrs to shampoo.

****Bonus Tip****

If your running low on hairspray add a little water to extend its life. to insure hold I wouldn't recommend using no more than a 1/3 h2o 2/3 hairspray ratio. It works just as good and doesn't cost anything extra.
