Batter Blaster Review and Giveaway!

I love cooking... but I must admit, I'm very lazy when it comes to cooking breakfast. It isn't that I can't, its just mustering up the energy to do it that is the problem. When I recently came across Batter Blaster, I knew I had to give it a shot.

Now that I have gone over how lazy I am ...and how easy Batter Blaster is to use, it is time to talk about the pancakes themselves. I was a little skeptical at first but they actually taste pretty good, not as good as grandma but closer to the packaged mixes that you find in the store. They are a tad bit sweeter than I am used to, which was a nice change.

My Review

I have been exclusively using these products over the last month, when I first started using them I experienced a major reaction. I'm not sure if it was directly caused by the products or not but it was not pretty... but after using them for about a week and a half my skin was showing major improvements in clarity and texture. I can not remember a time that my face has felt as soft as it is right now... I am very happy with the results!

My favorite product is the moisturizer, my skin gets very dry in the winter and I have to cake on the moisturizer. Not with this product tho, you only need a very small amount and it is very light,absorbs quickly and completely. I can wear it alone or under make-up and not feel like I am wearing a mask.

Willpower is not always the issue, depriving ourselves is. Depriving yourself can be depressing and often lead to binging. But depriving yourself of your favorite foods does not have to be part of the plan. Indulging in some healthy snacks  can actually help keep you on the right track without making you fell deprived.

Late July sent us a box each of their Mini Endangered Animal Sandwich Cookies in Milk Chocolate and White Chocolate and other assorted goodies. The Mini Endangered Animal Sandwich Cookies are very delicious. I enjoyed both of the flavors. The Milk Chocolate is a vanilla cookie with a milk chocolate filling; They are certified USDA Organic. They are the perfect size for snacking and taste pretty good. My favorite of the two is the White Chocolate, it is a chocolate cookie with a white chocolate filling.  I'm not a big fan of organic cookies normally but they were very good.

Like I said, I am not a big fan of organic cookies nor am I of crackers but I loved the Organic Vanilla Bean with Green Tea Sandwich Cookies . Organic Dark Chocolate Sandwich Cookies and the Organic Bite Size Cheddar Cheese Crackers, that were also in the package I received. 

I really did not think I would like the Vanilla Bean with green tea, it seemed like a odd combination... But they taste so good!  The Bite Sized Cheddar cheese crackers taste like a similar National Brand but so much lighter and cheesier and the kids really liked the Cracker Sandwiches, especially the Peanut butter. 

Overall the whole family enjoyed the Late July family of products, and have already purchase some of our favorites from the Grocery.

Aunt Else's Æbleskiver organic ÆBLESKIVER *Giveaway*

I recently stumbled across Aunt Else's Æbleskiver , I was immediately intrigued, I had never heard aebleskiver before but decided to give it a try.  What it is  a  traditional spherical pastry Danish treat, somewhat similar in taste and texture to an American pancake, but light and fluffy like a popover. They are traditionally filled with a slice of apple, but can be made to suit a range of tastes from sweet to savory, and are often topped with syrup, jam or applesauce.

Æbleskiver - pronounced EB-el-sku-wyr , get it's name from a Danish word meaning apple slices due to it's traditional filling.

Aunt Else’s recipe has been in their family for over 100 years using Mid-western organic wheat flours and buttermilk. They are made on the stove top in cast iron pans designed to make perfectly round pastries.

I must say that I really liked this pan and have already been thinking of additional uses for it.

The instructions on making Aebleskiver are a little intimidating especially for a novice, such as my self.  Luckily, They had a very easy to follow instructional video that I was able to use as my guide.

The first batch that we made were slightly overcooked, but the next batch turned out perfect.

We opted to use  Ghirardelli Milk chocolate squares as a filling and topped with powdered sugar. They were really good  and easy to make.

I am going to be completely honest before doing this review, I did not have a clue to what coconut oil even was or the faintest idea what it would be used for.  I did a quick web search and found  that coconut oil had several suggested uses from cooking  to skin care regimes to eating it by the spoonful for dietary needs.

My Review

One of the suggested uses that I found was to use it to remove eye makeup by applying it on damp washcloth and rubbing in a gentle inward motion. This is the method I chose to try for my review. I use a lot of eye make-up which includes waterproof mascara and it removed it all without the slightest bit of scrubbing. The following morning when applying my make- up I noticed how soft and smooth my eyelids were. So, I decided to take this idea a bit further. I purchased a pack of cotton rounds from the dollar store then soaked them in coconut oil, placed in a small food storage container and now have my very own remover pads.
