Make your own gummies out of seaweed! Everything you need is included in this kit and it's easy! You can make your own gummi bears, gummi worms, gummi fish or any other shape. Inside each Make Your Own Gummies Kit you'll find: sour mix, colored and flavored sugar, powdered seaweed, seaweed, molding starch, instructions and the story of carrageenan. All you have to do is wash the seaweed and boil it for a few minutes until the carrageenan is extracted. Then take out the seaweed itself, mix in the sugar, boil it again, pour it in the molds, and then add the sour mix! That's it - you have made your own yummy gummies!

To be completely honest when I first received this kit I was a little intimidated and also very skeptical on how they would turn out. It was pretty easy for the most part, I had a little trouble with the molds which was probably my fault but I ended up cheating a little and it turned out great.  

The kids had a lot of fun making the gummies and enjoyed eating them even more! It only took about 20 minutes from start to finish, not much longer than driving to the store and buying a bag myself and a lot more entertaining also!

Vitalicious Review

Vitalicious sent me a huge Super Sampler Pack that included a box of Deep & Velvety VitaBrownies and 10 different varieties of their Vitatops for review a few weeks back and we are still working on finishing them off.


 My kids didn't really care for muffins very much and only really tried one flavor, they were more fond of the brownies however, and said that they really couldn't notice too much of a difference between them and the ones we buy at the store.

I preferred the VitaTops myself, my favorite flavors are the Triple Chocolate Chunk  and the Fudgy Peanut Butter Chip. I'm not a big fan of "healthy" foods that taste like diet food and I could definitely taste the difference in some of the other flavors, especially the Banana Nut which is usually my favorite. I was surprised however at how filling they are for being only 80-100 calories, and having only 0-2.5 grams of fat.

Since Vitalicious does not use any additives or preservatives they need to be kept frozen in order to stay fresh, so you need to either take them out the night before or heat them in the microwave. I personally liked them better warm anyway so it really wasn't a problem for me but thought it would be worth mentioning.

Give them a treat that they will love...Cuties California Mandarins Review and Giveaway!

As a mother... I am always on the look-out for healthy snack choices for my children. Fruit is always a popular choice not just amongst the kids but by us adults as well. I was really excited to be given the opportunity to review Cuties, not only are they the perfect snack size they are absolutely delicious. I must warn you though... when they say that they won't last long they are not over exaggerating, we had a 3 lb bag gone in one night. Batter Blaster Review and Giveaway!

I love cooking... but I must admit, I'm very lazy when it comes to cooking breakfast. It isn't that I can't, its just mustering up the energy to do it that is the problem. When I recently came across Batter Blaster, I knew I had to give it a shot.

General Mills Commitment to reduce sugar!

My Children are big on cereal, and not just for breakfast. If I would let them, they could probably eat it all day. So, I was happy to find out that back in December, General Mills announced a commitment to further reduce sugar in cereals advertised to kids under 12. They will be reducing the sugar contents to single digit grams of sugar per serving. The company has already been reducing sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D, and providing whole grain. 

Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children’s diets

Pirate's Booty Review and Giveaway

I recently got the opportunity to try a variety of Pirate’s Booty products and I have to say that they are most definitely Yummy.  The whole family enjoyed them and they are a healthier alternative to all the other snacks my kids normally eat.

Pirate's Booty, comes in a variety of flavors including Sour Cream and onion, Barbeque, New York Pizza, Veggie, White Cheddar,  Sea Salt and Vinegar, ( Puffs) and the Original Tings (Crunchy Corn Sticks)! Pirates Booty sent me a treasure chest full of all the yummy flavors mentioned above. After trying them all, I would have to say that the New York Pizza is my favorite.  Honestly, all of them were really delicious though. They are not greasy and have a different texture than a traditional puff or chip making for an interesting healthy treat.

Late July Review and Giveaway!

The Mini Endangered Animal Sandwich Cookies are very delicious. I enjoyed both of the flavors. The Milk Chocolate is a vanilla cookie with a milk chocolate filling; They are certified USDA Organic. They are the perfect size for snacking and taste pretty good. My favorite of the two is the White Chocolate, it is a chocolate cookie with a white chocolate filling.  I'm not a big fan of organic cookies normally but they were very good.

Organic Mini White Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
Ingredients: Organic whole wheat flour, organic evaporated
cane juice, organic powdered evaporated cane juice with organic

cocoa butter, organic chocolate liquor, organic cocoa processed

Like I said, I am not a big fan of organic cookies nor am I of crackers but I loved the Organic Vanilla Bean with Green Tea Sandwich Cookies . Organic Dark Chocolate Sandwich Cookies and the Organic Bite Size Cheddar Cheese Crackers, that were also in the package I received. 

I really did not think I would like the Vanilla Bean with green tea, it seemed like a odd combination... But they taste so good!  The Bite Sized Cheddar cheese crackers taste like a similar National Brand but so much lighter and cheesier and the kids really liked the Cracker Sandwiches, especially the Peanut butter. 

Overall the whole family enjoyed the Late July family of products, and have already purchase some of our favorites from the Grocery.

Aunt Else's Æbleskiver organic ÆBLESKIVER *Giveaway*

I recently stumbled across Aunt Else's Æbleskiver , I was immediately intrigued, I had never heard aebleskiver before but decided to give it a try.  What it is  a  traditional spherical pastry Danish treat, somewhat similar in taste and texture to an American pancake, but light and fluffy like a popover. They are traditionally filled with a slice of apple, but can be made to suit a range of tastes from sweet to savory, and are often topped with syrup, jam or applesauce.

Æbleskiver - pronounced EB-el-sku-wyr , get it's name from a Danish word meaning apple slices due to it's traditional filling.

Aunt Else’s recipe has been in their family for over 100 years using Mid-western organic wheat flours and buttermilk. They are made on the stove top in cast iron pans designed to make perfectly round pastries.

I must say that I really liked this pan and have already been thinking of additional uses for it.

The first batch that we made were slightly overcooked, but the next batch turned out perfect.

Tiger's Milk *Review and Giveaway*

Often I find my self having a very crazy day, it usually starts something like this....

Waking up 15 minutes late, rushing around to get the kids dressed for school, packing lunches and dropping them off as the bell rings. Oh wait... There is still bills to be paid, shopping to be done... oops I almost missed that 10:30 appointment!

I am going to be completely honest before doing this review, I did not have a clue to what coconut oil even was or the faintest idea what it would be used for.  I did a quick web search and found  that coconut oil had several suggested uses from cooking  to skin care regimes to eating it by the spoonful for dietary needs.

My Review

One of the suggested uses that I found was to use it to remove eye makeup by applying it on damp washcloth and rubbing in a gentle inward motion. This is the method I chose to try for my review. I use a lot of eye make-up which includes waterproof mascara and it removed it all without the slightest bit of scrubbing. The following morning when applying my make- up I noticed how soft and smooth my eyelids were. So, I decided to take this idea a bit further. I purchased a pack of cotton rounds from the dollar store then soaked them in coconut oil, placed in a small food storage container and now have my very own remover pads. I also found if I place them in the freezer for about 10 minutes they  provide a nice relaxing eye mask while bathing.
