ReBinder Review and Giveaway!

Sunday, December 6, 2009

I've been writing short stories in notebooks since I was probably 11. For some reason its easier for me to write them all out by hand than on a computer,  especially when I am trying to come up with ideas.

As you can imagine I consume way more paper than I should, and that is why I am so excited to have the opportunity to review some great sustainable and green Office Products from ReBinder.

What I received

RePocketA two pocket folder that is thicker and more rigid than traditional folders. Made from 100% Recycled 20 point FSC Certified bending chipboard.

They are quite heavier than the folders I am used to, and hold up great.

1" ReBinder: A 3 Ring Binder with a removable and recyclable cover. Made from rigid recycled corrugated cardboard.

I remember back in high school doodling all over my trapper keeper and binders, these binders would be great for that. You have a blank slate to decorate however you wish.

RePouch -- A large pouch that goes in the binders with a slot for a c.d,  Made from 20 point recycled bending chipboard, it holds up to continuous page turning.

This pouch is pretty deep and will hold quite a bit of papers.

ReTab --   5 tab Dividers that are made from rigid 18 point FSC Certified bending chipboard in a five-cut tab configuration. (They also carry an eight-tab version.)

1.5" ReBinder: The 1.5" ReBinder is made from 100 point solid FSC Certified recycled chipboard and contains a unique removable ring metal assembly, that you simply unscrew and attach to a new cover.

The Rebinders are recyclable and reusable, with a removable ring metal assembly that you simply unscrew and screw into replacement covers.

ReSleeve: A Recycled CD jewel case...making plastic cases a thing of the past. ReSleeves are made from 16 point rigid FSC Certified bending chipboard to protect your CD/DVD .

RePlay: RePlay comes with two open pockets that fit a single disc and a small booklet or two discs. Looks like a traditional jewel case but made from 18 point recycled FSC Certified bending chipboard.

They are slightly thinner than an actual plastic jewel case,  making them more compact to store C.Ds.

ReBadge: A badge that is made from plants and not from plastic!  Comes with a sample of 100% recycled perforated brown cardstock.

ReBound:  ReBound's clear cover looks, feels and performs like plastic but it's made from plants! ReBound can be used with any comb or coil binding system and comes with a clear PLA cover and a 20 point recycled FSC Certified chipboard back.

ReWrite mini -- LINED:  5" x 8" recycled notebook that comes with 40 pages of 100% Recycled / FSC Certified paper and a recycled FSC Certified bending chipboard cover. I received the college ruled (lined) version but ReWrite  minis are available in case quantities in  blank or quad ruled graph paper.

ReWrite Full Size- quad ruled graph paper 8" x 10" Recycled Brown Notebook that are also available in  ruled or blank printed with soy based inks.

The ReWrite notebooks are  very nice, the cover can take a beating and still look nice. My only complaint would be that they only contain 40 sheets of paper.

ReMark The Eco Pen The true eco friendly pen -

ReMark pens contain no petroleum plastic, they look and feel like plastic but they are made from plant resins from sustainably harvested wood and organic cotton. Send them back to ReBinder and they will "upcycle" them and make new pens.

About the products

* Rebinder's Chipboard/Bending Chip: 100% Recycled / Minimum of 85%   Post Consumer Recycled Fibers, FSC Certified and fully recyclable end of life.

* Rebinder's Corrugated Cardboard: 70% Recycled (at least 40% Post Consumer Recycled) and fully recyclable end of life.

* Rebinder's PLA (Poly Lactic Acid): Clear sheet made from plants, not from plastic. Certified Compostable by ASTM D6400 Standards.

These office products cost slightly more, but are more eco-friendly than the typical products we see in the stores. They are also very sturdy and, and I consider that worth the investment.

I like the look of the Rebinder products for some reason. That "paper bag" brown is something different. And of course, recycled products are a gift to us all. no

Brant Williams said...

A note on the ReWrite Notebook. Our research showed that the majority of time only 40 pages of any journal/notebook are actually used. This was our effort to make only what was needed in order to conserve paper in the long run.

We welcome your thoughts on this and always are looking for feedback.
