Fried Chicken for Breakfast?

Saturday, November 14, 2009
My 8 yr old son woke up this morning, asking for fried chicken for breakfast. I do not know why I am surprised, Over the last few months it as became his addiction. Up until that point it was not a regular on our dinner menu. We maybe eat it once or twice a year, now it has to be served weekly. I will usually make about 10-12 pcs and we each will eat one and he will eat the rest over the next couple days. But really... for breakfast?

My daughter has a thing for the cheap pre-cooked sausages, she will eat them with anything. I had a thing for pickles and cream cheese sandwich while I was pregnant. I'd eat it everyday for lunch and drive the girl I work with crazy.

I don't eat breakfast food. I would join your son for the fried chicken. I love it cold. I also tend to eat whatever we had for dinner the night before for breakfast. The rest of the family likes breakfast food but, they will eat cold pizza the next day for breakfast and I won't.

When I was a kid my older brother ate cereal for every meal---we would have dinner---say meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and he would wash it all down with a few bowl or 2 of cereal. In college I used to eat pizza almost every meal.

Oh and I'm not really much of a meat eater (except bacon) my entire life I do everything to avoid meat (except bacon--bacon gooooood!) anyways I had some 2 years ago I had some female problems --they put me on birth control to fix--I couldn't take it for long but the whole time I was ravenous for cheeseburgers.

Thanks for the chance to win---something wonderful!!!

We seem to go in spurts of food obsessions around here, we've adored gnocci, Nutella, Ramen noodles, sugar snap peas, and currently are crazy about toast with butter, peanut butter and grape jelly.

My daughter and her Dad both love Baked Beans with Breakfast. I have a hard time sitting across from them and watching them eat it that early in the morning, lol

We are cold pizza for breakfast people. I would even rather eat it cold than heated.

We are also cold-pizza-for-breakfast people! Yum!
When I was a kid, my mom would have some sort of steamed veggie with supper and then the leftovers would be my breakfast. Cold. I would go in the fridge and say, "Hey Mom! Can I have the leftover corn?" and she'd look at me like I was a strange child and tell me to have at it, and I'd gleefully take the saran wrap off and fish bites of cold corn out of the water. Deeeelicious!

My boys both like cold leftovers, doesn't really matter what it is most of the time, but usually they want it cold. My two year old also often requests ice cream, but that is a definite no for breakfast.

My two year old is hung up on Macaroni and Cheese. He ask for it for breakfast. He doesn't get it but he asks :) My daughter loves cereal but without milk. She wants her milk separate. Now my husband loves to eat cottage cheese with black pepper for breakfast. I think that is so gross.

My husband rarely eats breakfast but when he decides to, he cooks up dinner pretty much. Pasta and pretzels and popcorn. I love breakfast so I have to have my breakfast food (waffles, pancakes, cereal). My family also does breakfast for dinner sometimes. That's the best! We love chocolate gravy which some people also find weird. It's a southern thing.

My son will pretty much eat anything in the fridge for breakfast, except any of the traditional things. Anything with salsa is the current favorite.

Recently all we have for breakfast is fried eggs, mushrooms and tomato. Every day! Cause we're on a diet and it seems like the only real food we can have at breakfast. haha

My boys don't really eat much of "non-breakfast" foods in the morning, but they definitely eat in streaks. They want bagels and cream cheese every day for 6 weeks, then they will only eat rice krispies, and lately they will only eat frozen waffles. (Haven't noticed a shortage here yet, so I'm hoping they move on to a different food if they're not available.)

Our 2 year old grandson loves his Grandpa's oatmeal. He has to have it everyday. It's the Scottish Steel Cut Oats mixed with dried fruit and molasses. You can't subsitute anything else. And it has to be in a certain set of bowls we have. We even have to leave extra at his house for the weekends. All I can say is he is definitly getting enough fiber in his diet.

His older sister went through a phase when she was 3 where she would only eat pasta with our home made sauce for about 6 weeks for all 3 meals. For snacks she only wanted vanilla yogurt.

Our whole family loves eating cold pizza for breakfast, but I personally could eat cereal 3 meals a day plus as a snack! I love it!
