Exergen Temporal Scanner Review and Giveaway!

Thursday, March 11, 2010

When my children were younger it was torture to take their temperature almost impossible at times. It was so hard to get them to sit still much less hold a thermometer under their tongues, underarm thermometers weren't any better the only other option at that time was rectally and as you can imagine that wasn't fun for anybody.

We have been using the Exergen Temporal Scanner for about four months now, way before I was offered this review.  It has been a blessing, the kids do not mind to get their temperature read and in fact will bring it me themselves when they are not feeling well. I only wish that I would have had it when they were younger it would have saved me a lot of stress.

        About the Temporal Scanner

"The Temporal Scanner Thermometer is a totally non-invasive system with advanced infrared technology providing maximum ease of use with quick, consistently accurate measurements. Advanced, patented technology measures temperatures with a gentle stroke across the forehead."

How Does it work?

"As you gently stroke the thermometer across the forehead crossing over the temporal artery, the sensor in its probe performs two processes:
First it scans like a video camera, capturing naturally emitted infrared heat from the arterial blood supply at about 1000 “frames” per second, locking in the highest temperature it senses and;
Second, at the same time, a patented system measures the ambient temperature of the site where the temperature is being taken. The patented "arterial heat balance" (AHB) software then synthesizes the two separate readings to accurately determine and display body temperature."

To use: Simply take off the protective lens cover, place the probe in the center of the forehead flush against the skin, then press the scan button and hold it in as you slide it across the forehead until you have reached the hairline. Release the scan button and check the reading, your done..easy peasy.

I recommend the Exergen Temporal Scanner to everyone, especially those with young children. The price of this thermometer varies between $30-$50 depending on where you purchase, but in my honest opinion it is a great investment that will provide you years of peace of mind.

I like how I wouldn't have to wake my sleeping baby to get her temperature, like I do now to get to her underarm.

I visited Exergen and I like that it is non invasive and you can even use it when your child is sleeping! The last thing a sick kid wants to do is sit still and be tortured by you when you're trying to take their temperature!

This would be a small but SO USEFUL gift for the parents of my surrogate son who is due in June. I know I would have loved something like this when my own babies were little. ;) Trying to hold a thermometer under an arm of a squirmy and sick baby is difficult!
